There's not a lot more I love in this world than cheese (maybe with the exception of cured meats) & what is cheese without crackers!
Most crackers on the market are filled with a million different ingredients including gluten & wheat which is not great if you are sensitive to either! These crackers are little nutrient bombs and are unbelievably easy to make- no dehydrator required! When I first heard the words ‘intermittent fasting’, I panicked. ‘Hangry’ is a real life condition that I suffer from terribly as most of my family and friends could confirm. So why on earth would anyone voluntarily fast? Fasting is not actually just the latest ‘fad’ and has in fact been around for thousands of years. Whether conducted on purpose or not (our ancestors didn’t exactly have a supermarket down the road), for many people the body appears to thrive in this environment. The simplest and most sustainable form of fasting is the 16/8 method. This is where you only eat for an eight-hour window (say 12pm to 8pm) and fast for the remaining 16. This means that around half of your fasting is conducted while you are sleeping and it literally just means that you may be skipping breakfast. So why would anyone need to fast? Courgette pasta is one of my absolute favourite things, I make it all the time as it’s just so quick and easy yet still so satisfying and amazingly delicious! You'll need a spiralizer but trust me it is well worth the investment! This recipe is super quick to chuck together if you come home late from work and chances are you will have all the ingredients in your pantry! I get asked this question a lot. Honey, maple syrup, agave, dates, rice malt syrup… the options are endless.
To be honest, I don’t think there is much of a difference, really. The various sugars may be different in their effect, but in the end- it’s sugar. You hear it time and time again, if you are trying to lose fat, the cardio room in the gym is your best bet. Many women avoid weights because they don’t want to get bulky. This is quite possibly the biggest misconception when it comes to the gym. Men find it hard enough to put on size and they have the testosterone levels to support that muscle growth. Women just simply were never designed to be ‘bulky’ and therefore as a woman a normal weight lifting routine is not going to be sufficient to do so. For example, a study published in the European Journal of applied physiology showed a group of women undergo a 20-week heavy resistance weight-training program focusing on the lower extremities. After the twenty weeks, there was a decrease in body fat percentage, an increase in lean body mass, but no overall change in thigh girth (Staron et al., 1990). Serves 6 4 courgettes (spiralized) 2 mangoes- sliced thinly 2 avocados- sliced 1/2C roasted cashews 1 capsicum- sliced thinly 1 bunch coriander, roughly chopped 600g raw tiger prawns 1 clove garlic- crushed and finely chopped 1cm cube of ginger (finely grated) 1tsp cumin 1tsp paprika Dressing: Juice of 3 lemons 1T soy sauce 1tsp sweetener (I used Stevia but you can use honey, rice malt syrup etc.) 1. Coat the prawns in the spices, ginger and garlic- leave to marinade for a few hours 2. Spiralize the courgettes and set aside. 3. Heat 1T coconut oil and fry prawns until they just turn pink. 4. Assemble the salad by adding all ingredients to a bowl. 5. Combine the ingredients for the dressing and mix through. Serve immediately. These brownies are fudgey perfection! They are dairy free, gluten free, refined sugar free blah blah blah.... you get the idea! So what is the secret ingredient? Pumpkin puree! I came up with these when I went on a roasting pumpkin spree and well over did it- so here you have it: Pumpkin puree brownies! I promise you can't taste the pumpkin at all and they are super delicious! Win win! You have been away on holiday for 3 weeks, indulging in a little too much alcohol and processed foods, and you have come home feeling a bit ‘squishy’ and all round like your body is in dire need of some TLC. But never fear, because the week you get back you are going to get knees deep in the latest and greatest detox cleanse!! Hear the word detox diet and you get polarising opinions: -The first being that they are wonderful- gods gift to weight loss and all round health and vitality! - The second being that they are an absolute load of money wasting crap. So who is right? |
